Field Workshop(FW)
Field Workshops are designed to provide students with hands-on experiences outside campus to deepen their understanding of sustainability. Students will visit specific locations and facilities within or outside of Japan and learn from experts who are devoted to specific issues relating to sustainability. Through this interactive and practical class, students will be able to understand how to relate classroom activities to real-life issues. Field Workshops will be held during the summer and spring recesses. Topics may include nature conservation, town planning, agriculture, community welfare, international cooperation, and energy conservation.

- Fill out the downloaded “Application Form”.
- Submit the Application Form from the Assignment section of the LMS during the application period.
- Check the results on the LMS on or after the date the results are announced.
*If there is room in the capacity, additional applications will be accepted.
Whether or not there are additional openings will be posted on the “List of FW projects” above. If you wish to apply for additional applications, please “temporary register” for the course of your choice and confirm the details.
4.Note
- Cancellation after receiving permission to participate is strictly prohibited (it may affect the cooperating institutions and the implementation of the FW itself).
- Credits will be granted in the following semester after all the Preparatory Lecture, Fieldtrips, and Ex-post class have been taken.
For example, students will be registered in the fall semester for Term I (FW during the spring and summer breaks) and in the spring semester of the following year for Term II (FW during the fall and spring breaks). - Registration for FW will be done by the office around the registration period of the following semester. Up to 8 credits (4 courses) of field workshop will be included in the graduation requirements.
- In the event of cancellation or postponement of the program due to natural disasters or other unavoidable reasons, please follow the instructions of the instructor in charge of the course.
- Students must be available for both the semester of the program and the semester of registration (credits will not be granted to students on leave of absence, etc.).
However, students who wish to study abroad at a domestic or overseas university under the university system in the semester immediately following their participation in FW should consult with the faculty office in advance.
